On October 29, 2021, Day 1 of the 2021 ABN State Championship which started out as a foggy cool morning on the water. There were 144 boats on Dardenelle with 288 anglers making their way to the cut where the call boat sat. At 7:15 am they started their engines and began to idle out of the harbour. As the boat numbers were called the adrenalin starts welling up inside, by the time they reach the boat it was time for the take off. There were 6 flights to be weighed in starting at 3:15, and for every 15 minutes a new flight would come in to weigh their fish. The final flight came in at 4:30pm to complete Day 1, at which point 378 fish had been weighed 800 lbs of bass.
